The altar for Bon Festival is reproduced and the sand pile is introduced on a panel, in the way that was handed down by the Kitamura family in Hadano.

This exhibition introduces the Yōkai (monsters) that have been passed down at the former locations of the folk houses in our museum, as well as the Yōkai associated with the folk tools and the folk houses that were featured by the folklorist Kunio Yanagita in his "Yōkai Dangi".

In summer, the shoji (translucent paper sliding door) is replaced with sudo, a door made of fine bamboo strips allowing air to pass through, so that the room becomes airy and cool.

We exhibit indigo dyed T-shirts with various patterns, which are made by our staff using various techniques.
