Annual Event Exhibition “Hoonko”
"Hoonko" is an event centered around the anniversary of the death of Shinran, the founder of the Jodo Shinshu sect of Buddhism. It is a day to honor Shinran's virtue and listen to Buddhist sermons. In the Gokayama region, it was called "Honkosama" and was held every night, rotating through one household at a time within the village.
